- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder in a bowl.
- Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder evenly over the batter.
- Pour hot water over the top without stirring.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
- The sauce forms underneath during baking.
- Do not stir after adding hot water.
