Description

A rich and gooey chocolate dessert with a cake-like top and a warm, fudgy sauce underneath.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder in a bowl.
  3. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder evenly over the batter.
  6. Pour hot water over the top without stirring.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
  • The sauce forms underneath during baking.
